"KINGSBRIDGE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL - PICTORIAL MEADOWS PROJECT 2009"

I thought you would be interested in seeing how our primary school children have Incorporated your meadow flowers into their curriculum.

As part of the school's Science Week in March the pupils designed and constructed raised flower beds and sowed three different mixes(standard classic mix, short annual mix, and perennial native meadow mix).Their project was to nurture the plant , keep a diary of germination and flowering dates and record insect activity at different stages through the growing season. Due to the success of the displays other curriculum-based activities were devised which included photography and art lessons.

With the experiences learned from this year we no intent to repeat the project next Spring using larger areas and encouraging and mentoring other local primary schools to replicate our success in creating a valuable learning resource. Another exciting outcome was that our meadows , along with other areas of the school's nature garden sown with your flowers, formed part of our town's entry in the Southwest in Bloom competition."       DR MARTIN LONGLEY, KINGSBRIDGE COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL,  DEVON
