PMTurf is delivered on standard sized wooden pallets. Two pieces of turf, each measuring 120cm x 60cm are laid side by side flat with up to 50m² on each standard pallet To protect the plantlets we never deliver the turf rolled.

Delivery is usually Tuesday to Saturday but can be on a Monday by special arrangement. We use a next day before 10am service for to ensure there is enough time for laying. 

The standard delivery lorry has a taillift and a pallet truck for offloading, which is for hard standing surfaces only. The driver will not be able to use the pallet truck over rough or unsealed surfaces. Most deliveries are carried out with the use of large articulated trucks,
if access to your delivery site is limited and you require a smaller vehicle, please let us know when you place your order.

The length of time it takes for your new PMTurf meadow to flower very much depends on the time of year that it is laid. 

PMTurf can be laid at any time of the year as all plantlets in it have been established for upto 18 months before we deliver it to you. Across Spring and Summer seasons, you can expect your PMTurf to begin flowering around 6-8 weeks after it is laid.

The majority of our meadow mixes contain no grass species at all, and the few that do contain just a small proportion of non-aggressive ornamental grasses.

The reason we exclude grasses from our mixes is due to their aggressiveness which in just a few short years allows them to out-compete many flower species. This reduces the lifespan of the meadow, and means less flowers to provide food for pollinators.

There's a lot that makes Pictorial Meadows special, and it's no accident that our meadows are the most colourful, most floriferous available. 

Pictorial Meadows was founded by Professor Nigel Dunnet 20 years ago, and a research-led approach to meadow development has stayed with us to this day. It takes between 3 and 5 years to develop each new meadow seed mix (we used the same seed mixes for PMTurf as we have available in our store), and we design all our meadows for two audiences.

A Pictorial Meadow will always offer a fantastic food source for pollinators, supporting biodiversity and benefiting our local environment. As our meadows were originally intended for use in more urban settings, a Pictorial Meadow will also always offer a visual feast for the eyes. The expert balance of flowering plant species ensures dense, flower packed meadows with successional colour changes right up until the first frosts.

Put simply, a Pictorial Meadow is loved by both people and pollinators.

PMTurf is an outstanding solution for increasing support for biodiversity in many cases. Where a landscape or garden has previously had hard surfacing or a lawned area, you can expect to see it suddenly seem to come alive across the summer months as bees, moths, and butterflies are attracted to the newly abundant pollen and nectar.

A Pictorial Meadow contains a carefully balanced mix of British native wildflowers as well as flowering wild species from other regions. This allows our meadows to offer a broad range of flower shapes, structures, and colours, important when catering for a wide variety of invertebrates, as well as allowing for pollen and nectar to remain available into the Autumn.
