Trentham Gardens Lakeside Walks

Pictorial Meadows form part of what aims to be the longest sequence of linked naturalistic plantings anywhere in the UK. The newly introduced Annual and Perennial Pictorial Meadows schemes at Trentham Gardens are designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett and created for successional seasonal interest and environmental suitability. They have introduced a distinctly contemporary understory to Capability Brown’s newly revealed landscape.

The main annual meadow – now in its sixth year – extended to 21,000 square metres, connecting Trentham Lake with Brown’s historic parkland beyond. The Pictorial Meadows sit amongst some of the most famous contemporary planting scheme from designers such as Tom Stuart-Smith and Piet Oudolf. There are a variety of mixes used from both seed and perennial meadow turf that can be discovered as you walk around the mile long lake. The new Kingfisher mix was developed for this site, but is now available to the public.
