1. What was the aim of the project?
I was working with a completely derelict site after a new build. The aim of the project was to create a garden that would be a haven for wildlife with all-year interest. It would also feature ornamental planting and a space for vegetable gardening.
2. Why did you choose Pictorial Meadows?
It seemed a no-brainer. The successional planting design meant that large surface areas could be planted with the meadow to reach the client’s brief. We love working with Pictorial Meadows because of the support and reliability it gives the client. PM meadows are low-maintenance and provide interest and colour for much of the year, with specific blends fitting different aspects of the garden.
3. Which Pictorial Meadows turf did you choose and why?
Purple Haze was important to blend into the client’s chosen pallet for the ornamental planting closer to the house. Then we moved onto Treasure Chest, which was cut and interplanted with Purple Haze and gradually became dominant. Towards the back, we planted Woodland Fringe to replicate the aspect of the garden near some mature native trees. It was also great to plant the turf right up to the pond edges.
4. What were the results/client feedback?
The client is over the moon. They said, ‘It’s amazing how it develops. It looks lovely.’
